Secret Seals aboard Dover Explorer

2 Hours Duration

"Our ethos is in sensitive wildlife observation without disturbing natural habitat"

Our mission on this trip is to observe Common Harbour Seals, thus making our Secret Seal Safari the most popular tour with families of all ages. Named by the BBC wildlife film crew in amazement at finding seals in this location when filming 'Autumn Watch.

Accidental Nature - Secret Seals of the South East'.

Dover Sea Safari does not just whizz you across Pegwell Bay. We bring you up under the iconic White Cliffs of Dover and along the breathtaking White Cliffs Country coastline.

Upon reaching Walmer, we head North. Passing Deal and taking in a close view of Deal Pier. Onward through to Sandwich Bay, entering the mouth of the River Stour through Pegwell Bay.

The lovely Pegwell Bay is a large nature reserve, known for its migrating wading birds and wildfowl, plenty of time for a bit of spotting if you'd like to bring your binoculars.

It’s here we find our 'Secret' Seal colony.

Engines off and drifting passed in silence you can observe their natural inquisitiveness towards people while basking on the river bank and popping up around the boat for a good look at us.

After about 20 mins viewing we return with a thrilling blast back to Dover Marina (weather permitting).

Due to restricted numbers, we have had to introduce one price for this tour.

the army forts....

Heading west, the first set of forts we come across are the Shivering Sands Forts. Getting up close enough to count the rusty rivets you'll be able to photograph the towers in details whilst we tell you their history.

time for a cuppa....

Goodwin Sands & Seals aboard Dover Explorer

3 Hours Duration

Join us for a unique 3hr adventure, out to the infamous Goodwin Sands.

The Dover Sea Safari team will take you out onboard the Dover Explorer or Wetwheels and if sea conditions allow, transfer you by means of tender on to the Goodwin Sands.

Depending on the tide and weather conditions, you should get approximately 45 minutes to explore or picnic on the Goodwin Sands.

A Dover Sea Safari guide will accompany you onto the Goodwin Sands, just to make sure you dont get lost on this incredible landscape!

Have a game of cricket....

Why not follow the tradition first started in the summer of 1824, Captain K. Martin, then the Harbour Master at Ramsgate, instituted the proceedings of the first known cricket match on the Goodwin Sands.

To our knowledge this has died out since the Hovercraft stopped running all those years ago. It's time to restart the tradition with monthly summer matches.

Seals and Wrecks....

Spot the abundant seals to be found basking on the Sands or look for the remains of the many wrecked ships that can become exposed from time to time with the shifting sands.

Please note;

This trip is a real adventure. Please do expect to get wet, we will do our best to keep you dry! Bring a dry set of clothing that you can change into when back ashore in Dover. We have a very nice suite of changing rooms with hot showers.

Everyone must have good mobility for the tender tranfer.

Cost per person: £65
